GE Electrical Distribution - Taking Control of Electrical Power
GE Electrical Distribution and Control In Canada
GE "ED and C" has been in Canada in various forms since 1985. Beginning in 1990 a leadership team was brought in to develop a business plan to identify product needs and to execute product development for the Canadian Market. To this, a sales team began to take shape, with offices in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal. In 1999, through agreements with national electrical distributors and GE's commitment to make their product more readily available in Canada, additional account managers were added with offices opening in Edmonton, Winnipeg, Windsor, Ottawa and Quebec City.

Recent Developments
In 2004 two businesses, GE Industrial Systems and GE Consumer Products merged to form GE Consumer and Industrial. The merger allowed these two businesses with a similar customer base to integrate and add important infrastructure such as marketing and supply chain management. To this an aggressive national trade advertising campaign was executed in 2006 with ads in Engineering Business, Electrical Business, Electricite Quebec, Alberta Construction, Building Strategies and Oil and Gas Magazine.
The back to "product basics" campaign is meant to show customers, competitors and suppliers that GE "ED and C" are serious players in the Electrical Power business.
